Creating An App Video: Step by Step

1. Pull up meditation video & start screen record. (If you need help with iPhone screen record, I'll attach instructions for that on a linked email). Make the meditation full screen + click the double arrows button to zoom in on meditation teacher.

2. I usually record video for 2 minutes then stop meditation video & screen recording. Your recorded video will automatically save to your camera roll.

3. AirDrop video to laptop.

4. For a white background video, upload the image attached in this email. Go to the "crop" button and make sure FIT is selected. The white background photo should be the main clip.

5. Upload the meditation video to iMovie and drag it ABOVE the white background image in the bottom box where you edit the clips.

6. Select the meditation video. Go to the "video overlay settings" button and select PICTURE IN PICTURE. Next to where it says "dissolve", it will automatically say 0.5. Change that to 0.0.

7. You will see the meditation video image small & cropped on the white background image. Drag the meditation video inside the phone and reposition accordingly.

8. Click on the meditation video in the bottom editing box and RIGHT CLICK where you want the video to start then press SPLIT. You can delete part of the video that you're not using and drag the selected part of the video to the beginning.

9. Today I'm making a 15 second video so I end both clips at the 15 second mark. When I make the 1 minute videos for IG, I do the same thing, but choose a better place to end the video that makes sense to the meditation and the time.

10. When this is done, click the "Share" button in the upper right hand corner. Share > File > Title It > Format: Video & Audio > Resolution: 720 P > Quality: High > Compress: Faster
You want to make sure these are the settings to easily and quickly share the video. These are the settings that make it compatible for phones.
Click Next and Save To wherever you need to save.

EXTRA TIPS:

1. When making a 1 minute video, I add a final app image at the end of the video (attached). To add this, you have to export the final video (assuming you just did all previous steps). Then, upload the finished video back into iMovie as a new project. Around the 55 second mark of the video, I'll insert the app image and repeat step 6

2. Sometimes, I have to cut out dialogue in order to make the meditation make sense in a 1 minute video. To cut dialogue: Right click video > Detach Audio. Then, I usually find a section of just music. I copy and paste this section to the end of the video. This way, the meditation video will end with music underscoring the app image that promotes the Unplug app.

3. I usually send the video to my iPhone before sending it to you, Suze, or McKayla and I'll double check that the video ends where it should end. I usually have to trim the end of the video so everything lines up (meditation video, music, and app image). Sometimes the music will keep playing when the picture is gone or the app image stays and the background goes black. Trim accordingly :)

4. Make sure not to delete the original screen recorded meditation video before you upload or send the final product. If it's deleted, the final video won't work.

5. If you're trying to make a video with the BROLL as the background, there are even more steps. I can send this at another time when you need it.
